Tea Time

This past week has been something let me tell you. I feel like I keep going and going and I never actually get a break. I guess it is foreshadowing me the future. We will just go with that. This week is our full week with the new workout schedule that we have for softball with Coach Burdge. We lift at 6 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursdays and then we have speed school on Fridays at 5 p.m. The workouts have picked up, we added and extra lifting day on Monday to get stronger and speed school is new this year. Lifting on Monday after a weekend if relaxing and not thinking about getting anything done is not as refreshing as you would think. It makes me dread Mondays more. An added lifting day isn't bad though because I do enough lifting and pushing myself to always go to heavier weights and beat my old PR. Speed school, is okay. I don't love to sprint around for an hour, but I get to be with my team and have fun. I am a very competitive person and always must try to win, so it does push myself in the end.

I am taking in these days I get to lift with my teammates and not complain too much about the time. The 6 a.m. lifts do make me a little productive in the morning if I'm not sore. But I will tell you now I will be in the best shape in my life after this semester or even year. Will I continue to push myself and workout when I am even more busy with a job and real life? I know getting to the gym could be an issue because now it's mandatory and I kind of have to go. But how I will live my life outside of sports is interesting to think about. I've always been a sports girl my whole life.

School is different on a weekly basis. Some weeks are way busier than others. But, for the most part it is smooth sailing. It is kind of amazing how I only have 4 classes, but one is capstone, so it is not an actual class. Senior life is amazing because I'm not taking hard classes and most of the important classes and base classes I have already taken. This semester I did take 2 general education classes so it wouldn't be as hard.

It is almost time to look at the Spring semester, which is my last semester, which is obsoletely crazy. Last year I remembered planning my whole senior year out because I could with, he classes I was taking and now I'm finally scheduling my last Spring semester ever! These college days did go by way too fast; they weren't lying when they said enjoy it while you can.

Until next week,

Lauren

  1. I can agree with you that lifting at 6 a.m. can get hard, but we both know, being athletes, that it is all worth it in the end. Lifting in the morning also makes me more productive and I actually feel more awake throughout the morning. Thanks for sharing!
