Last Fall Ball

Over the weekend the ONU softball team had it's one day of fall ball. For D3 Spring sports, you have a Fall off season, and you can only practice for so many days and have one day of games that can be played. This past Saturday the team and I took a trip to Findlay, OH and played on the Marathon Fields. I love when we have this fall tournament day because it allows the team and coaches to see the potential we have and how that season could potential be in the Spring. This day also allows us to find what we need to work on and then we can improve.

It was my last Fall ball tournament which is weird to say and think about. I didn't even think that this would be the last time playing on that one Saturday in the heat of Fall until today. But the best thing is, I didn't think about the negative and that lasts. I just went out there and played like I know and like I should play all the time. The fact is, is that not thinking and being in the moment and feeling the adrenaline rush through your body, that's when you perform the best.

It is crazy to think about how when softball and school got so busy, I would complain sometimes and wish I didn't have so much. But when I am not so busy I wish I had practice every day and was busy because I'm so bored. I guess I never realized until my senior year, that I can't live without softball. I never thought the day would come when I have my final games for Fall Ball or never have to go through terrible Fall conditioning every again, wondering if I did enough over the Summer.

My softball career is coming to an end, and It's my life since I was little. All the lasts are coming and I'm going to miss it, what's next?

Until next time,

Lauren

  1. Lauren, crazy to think that was the last fall ball season. Being seniors, it is crazy thinking about all the "last time" we are experiencing this year. At the same time it is exciting to think about what is going to happen next in life. I am excited to attend a game in the spring and watch you play!
