It's CHRISTMAS TIME!
I don't know about everyone else, but Christmas just puts me in such a good mood with the baked goods, Christmas music, and snow! Christmas is also another one of my favorite holidays. It's such a happy time when we get together with our families and just eat, laugh, and catch up!
My family and I have tons of Christmas traditions that we do every year! It is a little hard to participate in them because I'm at school till later into December, but I always join in on the ones I can! This weekend the women of the family are making Christmas cookies! My family always selects a Saturday where all the girls get together and make about ten different Christmas cookies from scratch! The recipes go way back to my Great Grandma when she made them! There are so many good Christmas cookies that we make but my favorite are the thumbprints cookies. It is kind of like a sugar cookie and then you put your thumb right in the middle of the cookie and put jam, any kind of your choice or course where your thumbprint was! It's such a good idea because you get a little surprise in the middle!
Another tradition that we do as a family is make homemade donuts as well! This is probably my favorite thing to do because what family do you know that makes donuts? Plus, the donuts come out fresh and are so good!
Those are just some of the activities we do before Christmas, but on Christmas we like to play lots of games as a family! One game that is our favorite to play after we are stuffed from eating, is the left, right game. My mom usually buys cute or funny little gifts for how ever many people we have at our Christmas and wraps them. Everyone gets a gift, but they don't know what it is. My mom then reads a cute little Christmas story that has the words left and in it a bunch of times. We all sit in a circle and every time left or right is said you pass it that way. At the end of the story everyone can open the gift they have in their hand! This is one of my favorite games because my mom reads the story so fast people get confused and presents are flying everywhere!I know so people are Scrooges about Christmas time, but it really such a fun time a year. I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Until next Christmas,
Lauren
