For my social media class this week, we must make a podcast on a social media issue of our choosing or interview someone who has a career in social media. I'm wasn't sure how this assignment was going to go, but it wasn't as bad as I expected. I defiantly was nervous to talk but I was just just happy I didn't have to show my face and basically talked to myself. I knew it would take me awhile to get comfortable with recording the podcast, it took me at-least ten tries before I thought it was good enough to share with you guys!
Personally, I have always grew up. with social media and my life and around me. I know social media can affect a lot of people in different ways. I also know that there are a lot of advantages and disadvantages of social media as well. On social media platforms I feel like there is a certain expectation that people expect to meet. Whether that be a certain body image, a certain personality, or even specific content that they think they should post.
know social media has it perks, but I also believe it has its big downfalls as well. I know an issue that has to do with social media is the different perceptions that people have on the same content. If a company post something and one person might love it and another might hate it, which is their opinions and that is fine to have. But I feel like pictures, comments, and videos may get a different perception often.
So, for this assignment I decided to talk about a social media issue that I think could become a big problem eventually. I picked this topic because I think it is becoming a bigger disadvantage than some people might realize. I know social media has been growing for a very long time and it blow up especially when Covid hit. With social media being such a big thing when no one could go out and the lock down occurred, I feel that everyone has stayed in the phase of working online, more social media marketing and interactions. I don't to get to much into the topic, so here is my podcast of my topic, lack of emotional face-to-face interaction on social media! I hope you give it a listen!
Until next time,
Lauren
Hey Lauren! I totally agree, there is a major lack of face-to-face interaction on social media. While some platforms are finding ways to increase this, it has not yet taken off. I also struggled with this assignment before I finally got comfortable. Podcasting isn't so bad!
