Every little kid's dream is to have a pet of their own. I know I was one of those kids who would always find a way to ask if we could get a puppy. But my mom would always say a puppy is like a kid and they are a lot of work. Boy, do I know that now.
My first pet ever was when I was a sophomore in high-school. I remember my sister asking if we could get a dog, since we were all order and my sister was just about to graduate from nursing school, and my mom said yes, only if we took care of the dog.
My siblings and I were so excited to be like every other family and have a pet! We are already exactly what type of dog we wanted, a Goldendoodle. This was our dream dog because we technically grew up having a Godlendoodle cousin, named Maggie. My family and I would always dog sit our aunts and uncles' dog because they always had to travel to watch my cousin play baseball in Mississippi at Ole Miss. We loved staying at their house because it was like a little vacation and of course, we got to play with the puppy the whole time we were there.
As soon as we could get a dog my sister went to get him about 2 hours away. We named the puppy Maxx, and he had the prettiest golden curly hair. Maxx was the runt of his liter and he was a little on the wild side. It took us awhile to get used to all the winning, nipples, and hyperness that he would get around 9 p.m. on the dot, but we survived.
Maxx was my first pet, and he is still the cutest, most cuddly dog I have ever met. Thankfully he has tamed down quite a bit.
But recently we got another puppy because one family can't have enough pets, right?
Our new little puppy is about 9 months old now and he is even crazy than Maxx was. His name is Barry and is a Sheepadoodle. He is really the cutest thing I have ever seen. But I am also very biased. He has the prettiest blue eyes that are covered by his shaggy, black, and white hair. He is also still crazy, but that is just the puppy in him. He really loves eating things out of the sink and is about as big as his brother Maxx.
When I am at school I miss cuddling with my furry friends and all the excitement they bring me when I haven't seen them in a long time. I honestly wish I could sneak them into my apartment and keep them in secret forever.Until next time,
Lauren
Hi Lauren! Reading your post made me tear up a little bit. My furry baby is such a big part of my life, especially since my parents and I would have very similar conversations as you did with yours about keeping a dog. Also, I fully agree with the sentiment on sneaking them into the apartments - I wish I had my pup here with me all the time!
ReplyDeleteHey Lauren! Your dog is literally so cute! I know I've always wanted a dog growing up too, but since I come from a bigger family my parents never wanted to add to our "circus." I totally think you can sneak your dog in, I won't tell. I can't wait to have my own house so then I can have the dog I always dreamed of.
ReplyDeleteHey Lauren! I can absolutely relate to this! I grew up with a ton of pets, some that were animals that are not even supposed to be domesticated. I always remember asking my mom for a new pet, and I was lucky that she also loved animals and would always say yes. Now that I am older I do realize that pets are a ton of work so I don't know if I'll have any in the future.
ReplyDeleteHey Lauren! I can relate to this so much! My parents never wanted to get us a pet until we were old enough to take care of it on our own. I understand what my mom was talking about when we got our second dog when I was a senior in high school. It can be so much work taking care of an animal but in the end worth it for sure!
ReplyDeletePets really are fantastic. It is definitely hard to go without pets at college for extended periods of time, but it is also nice to come back home to them. Bringing them to an apartment really is tempting, but I don’t think my pets would like the trip to my apartment. They probably also wouldn’t like how loud it is on campus compared to at home, but it would be fun to have them around.
