This week in Social Media class we are talking about the social media platform YouTube. Most people know what YouTube is, but to refresh peoples memory, it is the biggest platform for sharing, creating, and watching videos. All different kinds of videos are post and watched on this platform, such as vlogs, music videos, gaming videos, and even DIY videos. There is so much content on YouTube you can find almost anything you are looking for.
But a feature that YouTube has that I would like to talk more in depth about are YouTube Channels. A YouTube Channel is something businesses use to promote any product or service. For example, if you hit the hyperlink it will show you Jeep's Youtube Channel. YouTube requires a business to have a google account to have a YouTube Channel and that is because branding will become easier if it is not a personal account connect to the channel.
With each YouTube Channel there is a "channel icon and artwork that is displayed on the channels page for pictures of the company and anything that might show what the users might be viewing. Additionally, the page can also include an about section that also helps user know more about the business they are looking up. The page also includes up to 5 links that the business would like to put on their YouTube Channel page, a call to action on how to subscribe to that specific channel, and companies can also put other channels corresponding to their channel as well.
With the YouTube Channel the business can post any of its content and it can all be seen on their homepage for their channel. The home page consists of the basic information people would like to know about the company. The other tabs on the page include, videos, playlists, and other channels that relate to the business' page you are currently on.
YouTube just like any other platform helps businesses promote their business. YouTube is specifically to help businesses that include a video as a good way to promote their brand. YouTube is a great platform is show users what your business is all about!
Until next time,
Lauren
