The Thrill

My family and I have tons of traditions that we have in our family. One of my favorite traditions is when my cousins, uncles, aunts, and even my Nana would go to Cedar point every year. Every year I would look forward to going to Cedar Point because it was always so much fun to get away with my crazy family and do something I feel like most family's wouldn't, but then again my family is a little out there.

The night before we left for the weekend I could never sleep because I was always too excited for the next day when we left for Cedar Point. We would wake up at 5 a.m. to get on the road and head to my favorite and still favorite place ever.

Every-time we would meet up with all 10 of my cousins and pile into a mini van and my mom would always drive us crazy cousins. But first, we would all need some energy to get ready for the long and thrilling day we had a head if us. And the first stop was McDonalds, another tradition we had.

After we all go fueled up for the day the drive began. But, it wasn't and boring drive like you would think. My cousins and I would always have such a fun time in the car. Since my family was so big, we had to always take two or three cars to fit everyone, but we still were connected and talk to each-other, through walky talkies. It was always so funny because we all would take turns talking on the walky talkies acting like we were drunk drivers. The funniest part was always making up nicknames that everyone had. I don't know why but mine was little bam-bam from the Flintstones.

Once we had our laughs on the car-ride up to Cedar Point, the real fun began. All day we would ride as many rollercoasters as we could. Not one person in our family were scared of the rollercoaster which made it even more enjoyable. My favorite rollercoaster ride growing up was always the Magnum, but I could never remember the name of the ride so I always called it the big red rollercoaster.

But, the biggest and scariest ride at the amusement park was The Top Thrill Dragster. This ride is the fastest and has the biggest hill in the whole park. It has a 400 foot drop in the beginning and it goes 120 mph. Every-time my older cousins would ride the Top Thrill Dragster I would always cry and back out to sit with my Nana and wait for them to be finished. But, one day I felt brave enough to go on it with my cousin, Molly that was only a year old than me. We both had the amazing decision to ride the front row, for my first time.

I was so nervous, I was sweating so much, but I kept telling myself it is only 17 seconds of your life. The scariest part of the ride is the take off because it gives you no warning and it shoots you right off starting at 120 mph in the matter of seconds. After I rode the ride I couldn't get enough of it. I am pretty sure I rode The Top Thrill Dragster at-least 5 times.

Ever since my cousins and I got older we haven't gone to Cedar Point in awhile. But, I will never forget how much fun we had for that one weekend in the Summer when we forgot about our responsibilities for a little and just have fun with the people that made us who we are and that will always be there for us. Family will always be built in friends forever.

Until the next adventure,
Lauren

  1. Hi Lauren! Cedar Point is one of my favorite places to go, I remember going all the time with my family years back too! I think that as we also have gotten older it has been harder going because everyone has been so busy but just being able to spend time with my family is fun.

  2. Cedar Point rocks! It is one of my favorite things to do during the summer! I have yet to go to Halloweekends there so many I'll fit that in. It's awesome how your family has a tradition of going. When my relatives from Canada come visit, Cedar Point is their favorite place to go.

  3. Lauren, I really enjoyed reading this post! I actually have never been to Cedar Point, but reading your blog made me want to go there as soon as possible! I love how you say "family will always be built in friends forever.", this made me think of all the fun times I've had with my family. Spending time with family and going on a fun trip with them is one of the best experiences.

  4. As someone who hates rollercoasters, I tensed up reading this. My Fiancee loves rollercoasters and she drags me to go, and I am the one who screams the whole time, but I did ride the top thrill and I honestly did not mind it too much!
