In class this week, we are learning about how Twitter has come on top and became a top social media platform for companies big and small. Twitter is a great platform to use specially for bigger companies such as Wendy's. This social media platforms allows big companies to talk to their customers and followers easier than the other top platforms. Twitter is a great way to have respond to customers and or talk to them in a fast and effective way.
I would like to go deeper on a specific franchise, Wendy's. As everyone knows Wendy's is a huge brand in the world right now competing with the best of the best fast-food restaurants, such as McDonalds their rivals. Wendy's, if you have ever seen, is also known for their funny and snarky comments on Twitter. They comment or tweet funny responses to their fellow competitors like McDonalds and other competition. A comment that Wendy's had towards McDonalds and Burger King.
Not only does Wendy's make a big presence on Twitter and everyone loves it. Wendy's also went big and didn't go home with having their own March Madness bracket on Twitter as well. In 2017, according to Essential of Social Media Marketing, Wendy's launched their first #WendysBracket on Twitter and it was a hit. Fans and followers of both the company and March Madness could direct message Wendy's and put them in the bracket tournament. This led to a huge spike in engagement for both the basketball tournament and the company. With followers filling out brackets, they could also win prizes if they won in a pick for one of the games. This helped Wendy's gain over 8 million impressions in the matter of weeks on Twitter. The strategy of the company made their interaction between Wendy's and their customer base skyrocket with 2 million direct messages being sent in the matter of only 2 weeks.
Twitter is as good as any other popular platform and it is only growing. With Wendy's being a huge example as to why more companies should use Twitter, if you can use it well. Twitter allowed Wendy's to connect to more followers and fan bases to create and even bigger customer base.
Thanks for listening,
Lauren
