Seeing Familiarity Again

As the start of the school year comes back around at Ohio Northern University. The thought of having a normal school year pops up in all the students' minds as we come back to school. Will we have to social distance and be a part from some of our friends or can we all come together as a school and finally be back to normal?

Move in weekend gave a sense of familiarity, when all the fun activities came around. All the students could join in on the fun with the new member of the Ohio Northern Family. It was so exciting to feel the school coming back to life again and seeing all the friends we haven't seen and also making new ones on the way. With activities like slip n' slide or mud volleyball we could all come together. And this year the laughs were seen.

Laughs carried on to the house, and apartments as well. My roommates and I have been super excited about meeting new people every year and this year feels like the year where we can do it. Without Ohio Northern being super strict about the Covid-19 guidelines, we have been able to talk to our neighbors and get to know them.

School has also been more fun because we can interact with our classmates more and actually get to know them. The social aspect of the campus is coming back and I couldn't be happier. I get to finally interact with students and have conversations I wasn't comfortable having during the covid year.

As this semester starts it is a new chapter in my life as well. I am now officially an upperclassman, and I feel like Ohio Northern University is finally my home. With the change from being completely normal Fall of my Freshman year of college, to the devastating evacuation that happened in the Spring. To my Sophomore year being completely changed and unfamiliar, to now being able to finish my college career off strong and coming back to normal. I feel like I can have the college experience that everyone would get.

Yes, Covid-19 is still around, but Ohio Northern University is trying to come around and defeat it, to bring everything back to familiarity. With the University being semi-normal, we might just get back to being the University we know and love.

Until we meet again,

  1. Lauren, I couldn't agree more, being back at campus this year has felt so much more normal compared to last year. Yes, there are still some restrictions but I think that with things going back to more of a normal Ohio Northern is starting to feel like home. Compared to last year, I have felt relieved that I am able to do more things around campus.

  2. I also agree that it is a positive thing seeing campus return back to almost normal. Just this weekend I played mud volleyball with my friends, and it was so enjoyable being able to be together and see everyone's faces again, it was my first almost normal experience since my first semester of my freshmen year.

  3. I completely agree! Freshman year was so promising and exciting until we had to leave and there didn't seem like the end was in sight for a long time and we're finally getting back to normal! I'm excited to see what the next two years have in store to finish this part of my life.
